ScareLA, The Country's Biggest Halloween Convention
Dateline Pasadena, CA: ScareLA may have become the largest haunt convention in the country as over 10,000 guests poured into the Pasadena Convention Center for ScareLA 2015. In only its third year, this two day convention as exploded in size and scope. The massive dealer room, chocked full of exhibit booths and workshop areas, was the main draw, as attendees browsed for masks, jewelry, props, art, makeup, and special effects. There were six actual walk though haunted attractions on site in the ballrooms for people to get their haunt on, and a full two days of haunter and Halloween education provided owner operators and home haunters alike to hone their skills and techniques. A movie room showing new and cult films was running all weekend, and the main stage spotlighted executives from Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, Knott's Berry Farm's The Haunt. Numerous panel discussions on all aspects of haunting, paranormal and Disney's Haunted Mansion ride rounded out the schedule. There was so much going on, from Serial Killer Speed Dating to Slider demonstrations on the show floor, that the only problem was deciding what to do from the list of offerings. An upscale party topped off the first day as live bands, a costume contest and live stage performances wowed the 20 something crowd in attendance. The attendance to ScareLA as increased exponentially and after growing out of the event space the show was in last year, it will not be long before the outgrow the Pasadena Convention Center as well.
